Salutando La Mamma Di Jim… Saying Goodbye To Jim's Mom…
Two months after Mom's passing, the family gathered to say goodbye. Cate and her family, and Mike and some of his family came down for a weekend of remembrance . We took Mom to Rosecrans National Cemetery where she would join Dad. We gathered around the crypt and shared thoughts and feelings about Mom…Cate wrote, and read aloud, a beautiful letter full of wonderful memories. Amasa, also read his letter , which was lovingly written… so heartfelt and touching. Needless to say, there wasn't a dry eye amongst us. After the ceremony, we came home where I finished preparing dinner. We all gathered around the table, ate and shared more memories. The rest of the weekend included more eating, family time and a walk on Coronado Beach, where we came across a Sandcastle in honor of the Navy Seal who had recently died in Iraq and was also being honored at Rosecrans National Cemetery while we were celebrating Mom.

What a nice post remembering Jim's mom, Mary. Love the table setting with the chalk art table runner and the lovely Iris'. She DID have a very nice smile, and it was nice to see her then and now. That sandcastle is something else. A heartwarming post and I know how hard it is to say good-bye.

ReplyDeleteRiunirsi per una ricorrenza triste ma celebrare i ricordi e l'affetto per una persona cara è molto bello, è un grande dono...
ReplyDeleteLots of hugs and kisses for Jim, you and your family!
